The Story
Descending from the misty heights of Ooty into the dense, warm jungles of Mudumalai is like entering a different world. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a critical wildlife corridor. History
Established in 1940, Mudumalai was the first sanctuary in South India. It is a critical part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and a declared Tiger Reserve.

Travel & Safety
The drive from Ooty via Kalhatty Ghat has 36 hairpin bends and is very steep. Driving large vehicles or at night is restricted. Do NOT step out of your vehicle inside the forest. Do not feed wildlife. Follow all forest department rules strictly.
